Overview
Speakap is an employee app that connects the frontline and the office workforce across web, iOS and Android platforms. Catering to over 600 customers from a multitude of industries from hospitality to manufacturing, Speakap offers a solution to companies sized as small as 10 to over 20 000.
Team Setup
Throughout my journey at Speakap, we have been 2 Product Designers together with 3-4 POs who later became PMs, all of us being part of the Product & Design Department.
Designers & PMs were originally distributed into dedicated Scrum teams, comprising of Frontend, Backend, iOS and Android developers. During this period I was integrated into the Productivity Team, working on Task Management.
About 1,5 years into my tenure, Product Designers and PMs were distributed on a project-by-project basis. My role has expanded to work with additional teams on several other projects across the platform.
My Key Contributions
When forming the Experience Design department, together with the team we advocated for and introduced several changes:
• Improved design workflow & speed by introducing Figma
• Aligned outdated Design System with Frontend Design System
• Maintained and expanded our Design System
• Opened up the design process to include developers earlier in the process
• Led discovery and mentored PO turned PM on discovery
• Through discovery insights identified several customers planning on churning and their reasons, acted on the complaints by raising awareness to Scrum teams and restored their faith in the product
• Pushed for more data maturity across our platform, by introducing tracking implementation into the development cycle
